Onancock freight dock was one of the places from which local farmers shipped barrels of potatoes to the markets at Baltimore and other receiving points on the Chesapeake Bay. During harvest time the steamers called regularly to take on a cargo of produce to transport it to eager markets in the big cities on the Bay. From there it went to many inland places.
